How you treat your eyes is as important as how you dress them.
In addition to high fashion collections and super-precise measurements, Spectacles is pleased to be among an elite group of optical stores to professionally utilize the industry's most advanced screening techniques for the accurate diagnosis of diseases such as macular degeneration and glaucoma. These advanced screenings include ophthalmic instruments such as the OCT(Optical Coherence Tomography) and the Optos retinal camera.
The OCT is a non-invasive test that uses an array of light to rapidly scan the eye and present 3D images of the tissue layers within the retina. It allows for detection of the early onset of a variety of eye conditions and diseases such as macular degeneration, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy, the top three diseases known to cause blindness.
OCT testing allows for early treatment in patients and dramatically improves the success of these treatments.
The optomap ultra-widefield retinal image is a unique technology that captures more than 80% of your retina in a single image while traditional imaging methods typically only show 15% of your retina at one time.
Your retina (located in the back of your eye) is the only place in the body where blood vessels can be seen directly. This means that in addition to eye conditions, signs of other diseases (for example, stroke, heart disease, hypertension and diabetes) can also be seen in the retina. Early signs of these conditions can be seen on your retina long before you notice any changes to your vision or feel pain. Early detection means successful treatments can be administered thus reducing the risk to your sight and health.
The following diagram shows a wide angle Optos image compared to other imaging equipment.
